Frequently Asked Questions
Everyone is unique, but many patients lose up to 20 pounds in their first month on the The ReNew Signature medical weight loss program. This medical weight loss program can be a good way to lose weight without surgery or a jump-start prior to weight loss surgery, based on your unique needs.
The Renew signature medical weight loss program is a program to help you lose extra weight without surgery. As a leading expert in all aspects of weight loss, Dr. Amin created the ReNew program to help his patients make major changes so they can get results that last.
A gastric balloon is a medical weight loss device that goes into your stomach. After inflation with saline (salt water), the gastric balloon fills about a third of your stomach. This reduces the amount of food and liquid your stomach can comfortably hold and helps you lose weight. At Transform Bariatrics, Dr. Amin uses the industry-leading gastric balloon, Orbera.
You may qualify for a gastric balloon if you have a body mass index (BMI) of 30-40. The Transform Bariatrics team can evaluate your individual needs and discuss goals with you to help you decide whether a gastric balloon is your next step in your weight loss journey. As with all weight loss options at Transform Bariatrics, the team works with patients for a minimum of one year to help ensure maximal sustained results.
After your ESG, you’ll follow a liquid diet and transition gradually to semisolids and regular food after a couple of weeks. By following your diet and lifestyle plans closely, you can lose 12-20% of your excess weight in the next year.
Weight loss surgery can reduce or eliminate chronic health issues, including Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol. Patients often experience less joint pain, urinary incontinence, GERD, hormone problems, and relief from many other issues following weight loss as well.
Generally speaking, you may qualify for weight loss surgery if you have: Extra weight If you’re 100 pounds over your ideal body weight or have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or greater, you may qualify for bariatric surgery. Extra weight with additional health issues If you’re 35 pounds overweight or have a BMI of 35 or higher and have a weight-related medical issue, you may qualify for bariatric surgery. Common conditions in this category include Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and obstructive sleep apnea. Insurance companies typically use BMI as a guideline for determining surgery candidacy.
